Studio Lighting in Maya

We will begin the 3 point lighting with the main light. We will start by creating an area light and scale it to a decent size. You can look through selected to find a good point of view how you want your light to be placed. Bring it back a distance and scale it to about the size which would cover your model.

We encourage you to place your main light at a high angel from your model’s right side as that is usually the best spot to get a good and strong highlight. At this point We emphasize that lighting would vary for different models so the scale and placement of your light is crucial to getting a decent result.
